Battlefield 2042 plot is based on events in the distant future, when a global catastrophe occurred, killing millions due to natural disasters that led to economic crises. The collapse of Germany and the European Union ushered in the Second Great Depression, which saw the complete breakdown of all communication systems and the emergence of shortages of even the most basic resources, such as water and food. People struggling to survive in these conditions banded together into a group of survivors and began to fight for survival. Simultaneously, the remaining superpowers—the United States and Russia—began an internecine war for the remaining resources, using the survivors.
Battlefield 2042 does not feature a campaign, but players can participate in multiplayer mode with up to 128 players simultaneously. Missions can be completed on seven maps. Available locations include snowy Antarctica, the Republic of Qatar, South Korea, scorching India and Singapore, Egypt, and French Guiana. Among the obstacles players will face are not only numerous enemies but also natural disasters that will randomly occur in various locations. Players can choose from 10 specialists, who, according to the story, are migrants who have sided with one of the warring factions. Each hero has their own abilities and a special set of equipment.
